Total Conversion mod for Galactic Civilizations 2: Twilight of Arnor in development. This mod is based off of the game Star Fleet Battles/Federation and Empire. A variation of Star Trek but combined with lots of different source material.

This had begun as a collection of starships based upon the Star Fleet Universe and other sources and has now evolved into the development of a full complete mod.

What you can expect to see:
9 custom major races to choose:
United Federation of Planets; Klingon Empire; Romulan Star Empire; Kzinti Hegemony; Lyran Star Empire; Hydran Kingdom; Gorn Confederation; Tholian Holdfast; and the Interstellar Concordium.

8 Custom minor races.

Custom technology trees and weapons set up for each race.
Custom player useable shipstyles for every race.

2 Custom Immense Maps: "Federation and Empire" and "The General War"

Custom Campaign: "ISC Invasion"

Yes I used the same ship design in my own games, however I've since created the Ptolemy-class tug vessel from ST notes. I find it looks great transporting starbase construction materials.

It will be included in a futre update.

As for your problem, anyone reading this, I need to know. Does anyone else have this problem that beserko is having?

Hi AFRonin.

Im wonderin if I have done something wrong in installing the Federation ship pack... When I go to the Shipyards there a multiple copies of the same ships?

Like for example I have the Apollo Class Mark 1 M1 which has level one laser weapons on it (which I assume like stock TA ships upgrade as you research better weapons and shields?) and theres also an empty Apollo Class Mark 1 with nothing on it; and a number of other classes the same - one with weapons, one without. And a number just without anything...

Did I make a mistake somewhere?

Well I just rechecked the Apollo class ships in the Ships folder and shiptemplates folder. There is only 1 in both folders so I don't see how you are getting two showing up.

Did you have the original version of my ships downloaded (seeing that its 2nd Edition) on the library now? There shouldn't be but maybe there is a shadow of a previous design of same name.

So I recommend two solutions. Delete all the Fed ships off your computer and reload them. Or probably the most simpliest, just delete one of the apollo ships. I recommend deleting the one with lasers on it since they are all suppose to be empty hulls, except for the MacArthur class I left the components on there on purpose (not that I don't expect people to change them).

Ok guys, received a lot of feedback, most of it good. The rest are complaints that the ships don't appear right or they aren't showing up when the game starts(they are not suppose to . . . yet).

So since I like this stuff and I like you guys. (Other forums are full of @$$holes). I will be going back to the Federation ships; Klingons; Romulans; Gorn, and will add Fighters, Colony ships, Mining Ships, Spore Ships, and Merchants. Also the ships will appear correctly when you start the game. And I will announce when they get uploaded on this forum. So for example the start up ships at the beginning of playing the Federation will be:

Republic Class (Survey/Flagship)
Edward Class (Colony Ship)
Prospector Class (Mining Ship)

Fighter(s) and Merchant ship classes will appear correctly as well. When complete please delete all other Federation ships/templates/and style files you have. The old ones will not work with the new shipstyle file that will be included.

Future races such as Kzinti which is almost done but now because of this delayed will include all these features.

Question for you AF if you have a second...I noticed that your ships take on whatever color is selected for your empire....if I have custom ships I use, how can I make them change colors like yours do? Does it matter what file they go into..ie..ships in my games?

I use only the available parts available in the shipyard. So unless you are using some sort of mod the pieces you use to make your own custom ships will automatically take the colors you choose for your empire.

Nothing special is required. Good luck.

You'd probably need to do unique tech trees for it, and not every race every weapon.

Hay AF_Ronin, I have a suggestion for the Federation cargo ships, why not use the Ptolemy-class tug, that one is good because it is a general ship that can trade out contianers and serve as a colony ship, trader or troop transport. I even designed one when I was using your ship packs I could send you.

Actually I already made the Ptolemy class. It will be the Constructor ship as it will carry the supplies to build space stations.

GOOD NEWS! Once I deleted the files in docs/Gc2twilighnightarnor / shipstyles,ship pics,ships ,shiptemplates, reloaded gorn,fed klingon,romulin files everything works perfectly!!!! I must have dumped the 1st fed version in before but I don't remember.

Good I'm glad it worked for you finally.

Knew it wasn't my fault

But anyway this has inspired me to disregard an expansion pack and simply release a 3rd Edition of the ship packages to include not only the "cargo" type classes and fighters but a player useable shipstyle so the game can start with the right ships.

Figured out what I can do with my spare time at work . . . since I don't like working anyway. While I will continue to work on the ships at home while I'm here at work I will be working on custom tech trees for all the races of this mod.

Weapon and defenses will work very differently for these races. As such it may be unbalanced to use them against NORMAL Galciv2 races and games. You may want to employ them only with Federation and Empire Games.

I've already worked it out in my head how to make this work except perhaps the Andromedan Invaders. Tholian Web is going to be tricky to but I do have a little idea how to make it work. Oh and no cloaking device for Romulans. For my way around that see my comments here: Romulan Star Empire Ships

Primarily the changes will be to weapons and defenses. For example there will be no mass driver and armor in these tech trees.

Lasers type/Phasors will still be defended by shields.

Projectile weapons will be split into two categories.
Torpedoes (plasma/photon) are resisted by ecm
Drones(missiles) are resisted by point defenses and tractor beams(maybe)

Yes I know the current tech trees show ECM and Point Defenses as the same category but trust me for this they will be seperated.

And the way I have it imagined it would be cost effective and advantageous to actual use multiple type weapons systems. So you may actually want phasors and photon torpedoes or perhaps phasors and disruptors or whatever race you are choosing. I only hope the AI sees this as well and follows suit.

This is all in order to get the true feel of the universe these races live in.
